I began practicing law in 1997 as a litigation attorney. When my father passed away in 2009, my mother and I had the space to simply grieve because they had prepared their estate plan years before. I started my own estate planning practice to help other families have the peace of knowing that they are prepared for the uncertainty that the future may hold.

Education

I grew up in Rancho Palos Verdes and attended Chadwick School. Following high school I went to the University of California, Santa Barbara. I returned to the South Bay after college and went to Loyola Law School. At Loyola, I served as an Articles editor for the Entertainment Law Journal and also represented the Student Bar Association as Activities Chair. I received my law degree in 1997.

Career History

I began my career representing people in personal injury law suits including car accidents, slip and falls and construction site accidents. The next firms I worked were involved in construction defect litigation. There, I defended contractors and small general contractors in construction defect cases.
When my father passed away in 2009, I felt that I needed to change the focus of my life.  After some introspection and soul searching, I decided to go out on my own.

Because my family is the foundation of my life, and because I had just experience the death of my father, I chose to focus my practice on Estate Planning. My parents had put their estate plan together when I was in law school. Having a well prepared estate plan gave my mother and I the ability to grieve without needed to go to court in order to wrap up my father’s estate. And that was quite enough.

Thatcher | Law

Providing legal help to my family, friends and neighbors has always been the most meaningful part of the work I do. Since 2009, I have dedicated my practice to helping families in my community with their legal issues — first as a solo practitioner, then with a partner and finally as the founding attorney of Thatcher |Law.

My Family

My husband and I live in Hollyglen with our two sons, Jamie and Will, who both attend school in the Wiseburn School District.

My hobbies include baking, entertaining, reading, hiking with my family and playing with our family dog, Freddy and our two cats, Daphne and Archie.
